Blue Big Blether on 18th January

Blues at Beltane 2014 by Jasper Schwartz

Our Blues would like to invite current BFS members to a Big Blether at 3pm on Sunday 18th January in Room 1.24, St Margaret’s House, 151 London Road, Edinburgh, EH7 6AE. Please note that this is a directed discussion and not a casual social event!

One of the persistent characters in our festivals is that of the Blues. But just what is the current role of Blues both within a Festival and Beltane Fire Society? It’s a question we are often asked – and we ask ourselves almost as often.

The responsibilities of Blues have changed markedly over time and experience has shown us that January is a perfect time to take stock. We believe the role is strongest when mandated by the community-at-large and so are eager to invite you to help us discuss the current organisation and how to shape it for the future. This will also benefit everyone in gaining an improved understanding of how the Society runs – and how Blues operate within that.

We would love to hear as wide a range of voices and opinions from the community as possible and so we are having an Open Blether at 3pm on 18th January 2015 in Room 1.24, St Margaret’s House, 151 London Road, Edinburgh, EH7 6AE. This will take the form of short presentations about different aspects of Blues, interspersed with discussions to facilitate understanding, and to identify both foundation traits and points of potential change.

If you have anything in particular you would like to be described, discussed, or dissected, then please e-mail blues@beltane.org by Thursday 15th January, including the Subject Line ‘Blue Blether’.

You are welcome to register your attendance on our Facebook event page.
